When one receives a new t-shirt (don't think t-shirts), it is often 10 minutes or so before one can wear it, making sure all the straight pins are out. Yes the shirts look good, but what service do the pins do, other that to poke the wearer who missed that one pin? I figure it must be job security for someone. Eliminate them and there goes several jobs of the person putting the pins in and several jobs of those manufacturing the pins.
Along similar lines, I do like the tape size markings on men's clothes, except sometimes (sweaters for example) it leaves a mark on removal of the tape. But I don't understand the multiple paper/carboard patches, which all have to be cut off from pockets, etc. Again it's probably someone's job security.
